This is a continuation to our previous article on the World’s most expensive watches. In this, part 2, we will continue the countdown and go over the top 5 remaining watches that made the list for the World’s most expensive watches.

 

These watches are the holy grail for watch collectors across the globe and unfortunately for most of us chances are we will never lay our eyes on a few of these timepieces much less touch them or even own them. However, for my amusement and yours, here are the remaining five timepieces that made the list, starting out with the Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon.

 

5. Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon

Price: $1.3 million

This timepiece is by far one of the most appealing watches in the list. Patek Philippe is called a triumph of artistic and technical perfection. The Sky Moon Tourbillion is 42.8 mm in diameter and 16.26 mm in thickness. The solid gold dial has been coated with vivid blue enamel. Out of all of the timepieces by Patk Philippe, the Sky Moon Tourbillon is one of the most complicated.

 

It has two dials, one of which is on the front and the other of which is on the back. On the front of the timepiece is a retrograde date, perpetual calendar and a chart of the stars in the sky. On the back dial, there’s a deep blue and gold celestial chart.

The Tour de I’lle has been referred to as one of the most complicated wrist watches ever manufactured by the Swiss manufacturer Vacheron Constantin and it is also one of the most expensive watches ever sold, settling into the 4thposition in our list of the World’s Most Expensive Watches.

 

This timepiece was released in an extremely limited edition of only 7 pieces back in 2005. The occasion, the manufacturer’s 250thanniversary, the Tour de I’lle has got 16 complications and 834 individual parts. It took over 10,000 hours to design the watch with its snap-in caseback embellished with Sapphire crystals, alligator leather strap and a hand-guilloche motif on the back dial. This, the ultimate watch is 18 karat gold and a blue sapphire non-reflective glass. Just like the Sky Moon Tourbillon the Tour De I’lle is a two-sided watch.

 

3. Patek Philippe Platinum World Time

Price: $4 million

Firmly placing itself into the top three, is the Patek Philippe Platinum World Time watch, one of the World’s most expensive watches ever made.

 

This highly expensive watch tells you the time of a number of places throughout the world and is also self-winding. It has a fold-over clasp and a sapphire-crystal case back. The timepiece is 3.88 mm in thickness and 27.5 mm in diameter.

 

The Platinum World Time watch also has 33 pieces of jewel studded into it with 8 bridges and has 239 total parts. It is made of platinum, and is water resistant up to 30 meters. Besides platinum, the watch also has a variety of finishes that can be chosen such as white, yellow and rose gold.

Price: $11 million

 

This pocket watch is credited as being one of the most complicated mechanical pocket watches ever made and it is also one of the most expensive landing itself into the second position in the World’s Most Expensive Watches.

 

It was originally commissioned by a banker by the name of Henry Graves Jr, the watch is made from 18-karat gold and it took over three years to design and then another fice years in order to manufacturer the watch and it can do a total of 24 different functions. It was introduced in 1933, and is far more complicated than any other timepiece that has been made in the last 50 years. The timepiece contains a mind-boggling 920 individual parts and it features a perpetual calendar, split seconds chronograph, grande and petite sonnerie, among other cool little things.

This is the watch that took the number one position in the World’s Most Expensive Watches, the Chopard 210 karat. At a mind-boggling $25 million! Louis-Ulyssee Chopard is the founder of the Swiss-based luxury watch making company that made the Chopard 210 karat.

 

Often referred to as the Kohinoor of watches, it is the most expensive timepiece that has ever existed with a massive total of 874 diamonds. One heart-shaped pink diamond, one heart-shaped blue diamond, one heart-shaped D colour diamond, three pear-shaped yellow diamonds, twenty six pear-shaped yellow diamonds, forty eight round yellow diamonds, two hundred and sixty pear-shaped D colour diamonds, ninety one round D colour diamonds and four hundred and forty three FC yellow diamonds, making it a total of 210 karats!
