RAYMOND WEIL FREELANCER CHRONOGRAPH
This is the newest edition to Raymond Weil’s best-selling series which combines not only sophistication but a powerful look also. With a 42.5mm steel case and water resistant up to 100 meters, it is geared up for intense practices thanks to its robust construction which incorporates years of carefully handed down watchmaking precision and know-how. The Freelancer Chronograph is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement providing a massive 46-hour power reserve.
ROLEX GMT-MASTER II
British professional swimmer Mercedes Gleitze swam the channel in ten hours while wearing a Rolex Oyster in 1927, and it’s been the darling of big business types and not so trustworthy internet resellers ever since.
Equally just as legendary, the GMT-Master II, pictured above, has been an icon of the jet age, embraced by airline pilots as their onboard chronometer of choice. One of the most favorite iterations, is the steel case with the Pepsi bezel which was introduced at Baselworld in 2018.
ROTARY SHERLOCK
If you are one that is looking for a classy looking timepiece while on a tight budget, the British brand Rotary is a perfect match. This classic timepiece is worn by Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie Sherlock.
SWATCH SISTEM51
You cannot have a complete timepiece guide without mentioning Swatch, the budget Swiss brand whom also happens to have some pretty attractive designs. The Swatch original range, one of their most popular, composes of plastic and silicone housed timepieces with quartz movements and waterproof up to 3 bars. However, pictured above is the Sistem41, which is a bit more high-tech. It features 51 parts, one screw and has a massive 90-hour power reserve.
TAG HEUER CARRERA CALIBRE HEUER 01
Another great looking piece, this time from Tag HEUER, is the Carrera Calibre Heuer 01. First created in 1964 as a tribute to the Carrera Panamerica, or often referred to as the Mexican Road Race of the fifties, at which the day’s most masculine drivers would race 2000 miles across Mexico at top speed. Today’s Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 is made from titanium carbide coated steel, and is completed by a strap that is made from black rubber for a stylish, yet sporty look.
HEUER AUTAVIA
If you are looking for something that is a bit more traditional, then check out the Heuer Autavia. Part of TAG’s Heritage range, the Autavia was favored by racing drivers back in the 1960s and found revival in 2017. This vintage silver dial features a retro Heuer logo, and is encircled by a black aluminum notched bezel. It is now larger, and features a brand-new movement.
TISSOT T TOUCH EXPERT SOLAR
If you are looking for a timepiece that offers a bit more of a modern and smarter touch than a traditional one, but not quite as techy and gaudy as, say, an Apple Watch, then the T-Touch range from Tissot may be just what you are looking for.
T-Touch is a technology that was developed by Tissot that turns the glass into a touchscreen, showing different information, such as altitude, digital compass, or even a timer, depending upon where you touch. This newest timepiece in the range, the Expert Solar, utilizes the Sun’s ultraviolet rays in order to power all of the functions.
TUDOR HERITAGE BLACK BAY
The Tutor Black Bay might just be the idealistic piece for one to start a proper timepiece collection. It is premium but not quite so expensive, it has a rich history and it is also very attractive and a wearable, everyday timepiece. One of the favorites, the Black Bay Black Heritage with the black face and bezel which is pictured above. However, Tudor offers a vast range of variants, including a striking bronze model, made from a high-performance aluminum bronze alloy. The Black Bay features an in-house movement and numerous classical design cues.
UNIFORM WARES M40
Uniform Wares pieces are made in Switzerland but designed in London, and they are a great brand if you are looking for something that has a clean and simple appearance. The M40 features UW’s signature lug-less M-Line case, and, as the name suggests, it measures 40mm in diameter. It is paired with an Italian nitrile rubber strap. Simplistic in design, yet with incredible attention to detail it is a piece that will have you take a second or third look.
VICTORINOX INOX PARACORD
Made from the same industrious Swiss tinkerers who create the Swiss army knives, you would be right to expect some engineering creativity when it comes to them making timepieces. The Victorinox Inox Paracord is definitely a marvel to behold. Composed from a solid steel shell and hardened sapphire crystal face, the INOX also features a paracord strap, which you can unravel into a potentially life-saving rope. McGuyver style and all. Victorinox will also replace the strap for free if you tell them how it saved you or someone else.
ZENITH CHRONOMASTER HERITAGE 146
First founded back in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot. Zenith has a very rich and old history in the manufacture of Swiss timepieces. The most notable achievement was the creation of the first integrated automatic chronograph movement, the Zenish El Primero, as well as the Zenith Defy Lab, the most accurate mechanical watch ever made to date.
The Zenith Chronomaster Heritage 146, pictured above, features an El Primero 4069 movement and boasts a 50-hour power reserve.
